Le champ des Mêlés
Pablo and Manon's living-soil market garden
Pablo and Manon have grown organic vegetables in Montchevrier since 2019, without ploughing, using heirloom varieties. Farm sales three days a week.
They practise what's known as living-soil market gardening: no destructive ploughing, soil permanently covered with organic straw and hay, and an underground life left to do its work. The seedlings are grown on the farm.
The choice of seed is not incidental. They refuse F1 hybrids, varieties whose seeds can't be resown, and work with heirloom and open-pollinated varieties. It's slower, less regular, and it has flavour.
They also turn part of the harvest into lacto-fermented vegetables.
Certified organic by Ecocert. Farm sales run from May to December, Wednesday and Friday late afternoon, Saturday morning.
This isn't a place open to the public: it's a working farm. We ask in advance.
