Outside, you walk. The valley, the paths, the villages, the low light over the meadows. Then you come in. Exposed stone, beams, cast-iron stoves, thick cotton: the houses are made for stopping in. You live here, dine here, dream here.
Nothing here is rushed. You read in the armchair closest to the stove, cook what you brought back, dine late, go to bed when you're sleepy. Tomorrow can wait.
A cast-iron stove, thick walls, low light. You sink into it after a day's walk, book in hand, and don't move again. From November to April, the wood is split, dry, and waiting alongside.
A real kitchen, not a kitchenette: hob, oven, dishwasher, and a dining table for six. We lend the baskets and the knives. What you bring back from the market or from Le Champ des Mêlés is prepared here, and eaten here or outside, depending on the weather.
On request, breakfast arrives in a wicker basket, at the door, at the time chosen the evening before. Have it at the table, on the terrace, or in bed. In the evening, the same table of six serves dinners that run long.
Around the four houses, 1.2 hectares of meadows, trees and silence. Nothing is organised, everything is offered: a pool facing the countryside, a kitchen garden and a greenhouse whose harvest you'll get to taste, a pétanque court for the end of the day, and the shade of the three-hundred-year-old linden tree for doing nothing at all.
The outdoors, at 9 La Roche, isn't a list of activities. It's space and time, at your own pace, with no one organising it for you.
A pool set at the edge of the estate, with no one overlooking it, open onto the Berry countryside. Sun loungers, a shade sail, a stone coping. You swim in peace, dry off in the sun, read until evening.
Under the shade sail, a stone terrace for long late afternoons. A plancha grill, a drink at sunset, low light on the old walls. Summer dinners don't have a dining room: they have a sky.
Tomatoes under the greenhouse, squash, peppers, herbs, orchard fruit: through the seasons, we'll let you taste what grows here. You can walk through the kitchen garden, pick something, or simply watch it do its work.
A shaded pétanque court, balls provided. Nothing compulsory, but it's often where the day ends, to the sound of iron on gravel.
A sun lounger on the grass, a book, the shade of the three-hundred-year-old linden tree. It has watched over the estate for three centuries. The perfect place to expect nothing from the day.
A private session on the grass, in the shade of the three-hundred-year-old linden tree. You choose the discipline, Lucile shapes the session around you. In Pilates, you work the breath, the back, balance. No mirror, no studio: the sky and the old walls. One hour, up to four people. On request, at least 48 hours in advance. €45 per person, paid on site, tax included. If it rains, the session takes place in the house's living room, or is cancelled if you prefer.
Lucile, a state-qualified sports coach with seven years in the trade. Pilates, yoga, strength training, cardio. Demanding and gentle at once, she adapts each session to the person in front of her: to push you further, or simply to enjoy the moment. Either way, in good spirits.
