La p'Art-queterie
France's only juke joint, in a hamlet
A music café out in the countryside, at the hamlet of la Belardière, in the commune of Fresselines, ten minutes from the estate. Soul Bag magazine calls it France's only juke joint. Blues from March to October.
Christophe and Frédérique Benoît took over the place in 2010. The name comes from their motto: wine and the arts.
They book American musicians all year round, in a hamlet in the Creuse. Regulars in the area have ended up calling it the Creussissippi Valley, which says it all.
Since 2011, they've run the Art'n Blues festival, five days in early August, nine bands. No subsidy and no sponsor: each edition's takings fund the next. Around a thousand people over the five evenings.
Outside the festival, concerts from March to October, and jam sessions every Thursday in July and August. Open every day from May to September, Friday to Sunday the rest of the year.
Their channel is their Facebook page. The website isn't in service.
